Pole dance classes at Fly & Flow Studio

Pole dance is for everyone, regardless of your sports background. Whether you are a pole dance beginner, or a well-seasoned pole athlete, we have got you covered. Below we provide an overview of our regular classes and what you can expect from each class. All pole dance classes will cover exercises or combinations on both spinning and static pole.

Good to know for all classes

When you enter the studio, we kindly ask you to take off your shoes at the entrance. You can leave your shoes at the designated spots in front of the pole area, or in the dressing room.

Do not forget to bring your own clean towel and a bottle of water to stay hydrated.

For your own safety, please take off any jewelry on the hands and neck. Short earrings are no problem, but we kindly ask you to take off long earrings that could get stuck.

A golden tip for better grip: do not put on any creams or lotions 24 hours before poling.

One last thing: be proud of yourself, you’re doing great! Don’t compare your progress to anyone else’s. Everyone learns at their own pace, practice makes progress. Have fun!

Pole - Introduction

This is where your pole journey starts: if you have never touched a pole before, you can join this class to discover what pole dance is all about. In this one-time class you will learn a little choreo that includes a few basic spins and poses – and hopefully fall in love! Here you can get a little taste of everything – do you want to approach pole more as a dance, fitness or a general workout class? If you decide to join us, you can immediately join the Pole Beginner classes to continue your journey.

Pole dance introduction class

Pole - Beginner 1

During beginner classes, you will learn the fundamentals of pole: how to move around the pole, basic spins and poses, climbing the pole and sitting in the pole. We then start building combinations and small choreos on both the static and spinning pole. We also work on strength conditioning to build towards inverts (a.k.a how to go upside down!).

We are often asked how long it can take to complete the beginner level. There is no simple answer, it depends on your background, on how often you train (pole or other sports), your body … Everyone learns at their own pace, everyone has their own (sometimes surprising!) strengths and weaknesses).

Pole - Beginner 2

The Beginners 2 class bridges the gap between Beginners 1 and Intermediate 1 by focussing on inverting, climbing and the more challenging poses from Beginners 1 (ie. laybacks). We of course review the basics already learnt and work on perfecting them (with pointed toes!), learning new variations and creating fun combinations.

Once you can confidently invert you will be able to flow to the Intermediate 1 class.

Pole - Intermediate 1

This class is for those who have mastered the fundamental spins, climbs and poses taught in Beginner, and who can confidently invert. This class focuses on developing strength and mobility to discover a range of new poses, spins and transitions.

Starting from the basic invert, we will be developing the upside-down world of poses, transitions and combinations. This includes 3-contact points moves (such as the butterfly), various leg hangs and other unexpected poses.

Not everything will be upside down though! We will also be teaching intermediate level spins, poses and working on combinations and short choreos.

Pole - Intermediate 2

This class is for those who, having graduated from Intermediate 1, can confidently execute intermediate-level combinations with both upright and inverted tricks. This class will focus on three main elements:

  • More challenging variations of previously learned material, including advanced entrances to moves, new types of grips, and aerial inverts.
  • 2- and 3-contact point moves, including cupid, shouldermounts and working towards the handspring.
  • Flexibility based moves: although we will never expect everyone to be able to do a split or a perfect bridge, there is a collection of beautiful poses that incorporate flexibility elements. Some of the moves we will learn include jade, allegra, ballerina and seahorse.

As usual, these moves will be incorporated into combinations both on static and spinning poles.

Pole dance class advanced

Pole - Advanced

If you have gone through the previous levels and you’re still looking for the right challenge for you, this is where it is.

We further develop strength-based moves, particularly handspring and variations (including X-Man!), and shouldermount variations (including the chest press).

As your flexibility increases, we also discover new splitty moves such as the russian split and machine gun, or backbendy moves, such as the dragon tail and cocoon.

A new element to the Advanced class are dynamic moves, namely flips, drops and jumps!

Come learn how to fly (and flow) with us! Pun definitely intended.

Pole - Flow

These classes are for those looking to explore movement, flow and dance on and around the pole. Each month, a new longer choreography is taught which combines floor work, spins and on-the-pole elements.

These classes are open to all levels as the choreography will include variations adapted to the different levels.

We recommend using knee protectors during the class.

Flexibility

A great complement to your pole dance classes, this class focuses on developing our mobility and flexibility in a safe, guided environment. Each week we alternate between leg flexibility (front and middle splits), and shoulder and back flexibility.

This is a class open to all levels, for those who have no clue where to start and those who know what they’re doing but need dedicated practice time.

Open Training

Open training means the studio is yours to practice whatever you want. Although this isn’t a class, one of the instructors will be there to provide help if needed.

This class is included in all Fly & Flow memberships.

Open training costs  € 10 for non-members.
